Lateral Ableism? Is it real? An Autistic Woman's thoughts.

Ableism, the unjust practices towards people with disabilities, whether those people are Autistic, have a mental illness, or a sensory disorder or a physical disability. All of it goes under ableism, however, what if I were to tell you that not all disabled people understand one another? Disability-wise? Don't believe me? Well, let me introduce to the idea of Lateral Ableism, along with both the consequences and horrible impact on people with disabilities effected by this.      First off, what is Lateral Ableism?        Be honest, when you think of a Mental Hospital? What comes to mind? Schizophrenics? Delusional people? People with Mental Illness? Well, whatever you think, I have some problems with Psych Wards today, but there aren't that many I have. However, in this post, I will discuss what they are. So, without further ado, let's get into it.   Problem 1 : The Faculty, Staff, and the System of the Psych Ward   From what I have seen from some videos on Instagram or some other platform with little videos like reels, it seems that sometime the staff and/or faculty tend to be dangerously dismissive towards the patients who come in for help. One reel I have seen, it was made by a woman who had worked in either a psych ward or a mental hospital, where she worked with a patient as a nurse, who would scream for an unknown reason. Wanting to help, she went over to what I assumed maybe the head nurse, to be told that the patient was only screaming for attention, when in ...

Cue Frenchie! Ah...SpongeBob, a beloved character since the late nineties, when Stephen Hillenburg created what would be the most unique and beloved franchise of all time, SpongeBob SquarePants . Though, as of recent, the news has covered that he's Autistic, according to Tom Kenny, his voice actor, and the news program, People News.  Well, here are my thoughts on that. First off, who is SpongeBob and where does he come from?    I am glad you asked. SpongeBob is a beloved showed created on May 1st, 1999, by a man named Stephen Hillenburg, who was first a marine biologist, then grew a love for children's entertainment. So, together he created a lovely little show called SpongeBob SquarePants, that centered around a man child sea sponge, who goes to work at the Krusty Krab and also goes to school at Mrs. Puff's boating school, where he learns to drive, but fails horribly. All while living next to his next-door neighbors, Squidward Tentacles and P...
